DETAILS
Australia’s indigenous peoples are the world’s oldest surviving people.
This contemporary indigenous art collection is mostly sourced from the art of Central and Western Desert Artists. The Desert Art movement began in earnest in the 1970s. It represents one of the most powerful and exciting art movements anywhere in the world today. Art from Australia’s centre is regularly on display in galleries and museums in New York, London, Berlin, Tokyo and Paris.
Part of its attraction is that it is both very modern in its appearance and at the same time very ancient in its source and underlying meaning. The paintings from the Hinchliffe Indigenous Collection have been lent for free to public institutions in the south-east Queensland (SEQ) region. Most of the more than 1000 paintings in this collection are on long term, free loan to public venues in SEQ. More than 600 paintings are already on display at the following:
@University of Southern Queensland
@Bond University
@University of Queensland
@ Queensland Performing Art Centre
@Brisbabe Convention and Entertainment Centre
@Manor Apartment Hotel
@Brisbane State High School
@ Brisbane Central State School
@Fortitude Valley Secondary College
@ Brisbane South Secondary State College
@Kelvin Grove State College
