DATES Wednesday Feb 25 to Sunday March 1. (Painting days Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and hanging Of Paintings in Gallery on Sunday). PROGRAM Participants arrive on Wednesday morning , Feb 25. Participants assemble 10-11am for my introductory painting demonstration and orientation. We paint in the afternoon and then break at 5pm to discuss our program and aspirations for the week ahead. We’ll do that over charcuterie and drinks at Manyung Gallery, 5.30pm.
On Sunday participants check out 10 am and go to Manyung Sorrento Gallery for hanging of paintings and a mini-exhibition . We’ll get a unique behind the scenes look at how commercial Galleries operate. It will provide a fascinating perspective.
ACTIVITY This is what we’ll be doing: Each day we will check the weather and determine if we’re painting inside or outside. There are a number of great painting subjects along the magnificent beach, the jetties, the local streets and the parks.
Even if the weather isn’t the best and we can’t paint in the open air (and obviously that will be our preference) we will be able to take photographs and work from those inside . I will do a demonstration painting each day and guide you individually through the painting process. Each day you’ll have a canvas supplied (complete with frame). All paints (student quality) and brushes will also be supplied along with your own personal easel and back pack (which converts to a seat) for your individual use during the week.
You’ll need to bring an apron, spray bottle, water container for washing your brushes (an old ice cream container is perfect) and your enthusiasm – that’s all you’ll need. You’ll end up with at least four paintings (framed) which I guarantee you will be proud to hang. On the last day (Sunday) we will take paintings to the Manyung Gallery and hang them. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gain a major insight into the workings of a gallery.

Each residence has kitchen, lounge and dining, as well as your own bedroom and bathroom (or there is an option of two participants sharing a bathroom but with their own separate bedroom) .
